characters experience during and after Gregor’s transformation. From the point of view of the main character, Gregor Samsa, it is clear to see he goes through a transformation, physically and mentally. His new view can either be argued as either positive or negative. But, the effects of the metamorphosis does not have a negative impact; it has a positive one instead.

For instance, he acquires the idea that his supposedly crippled father can, in reality, work. This revelation has various possibilities: his father is lying to him and the whole family, and the extra money that could have been earned has been lost. This is a very important factor because the family is already buried in a large amount of debt, and only one person is paying for all of the expenses in the family. As it says in part two, “He was standing up straight enough now; dressed in a smart blue uniform with gold buttons, the sort worn by the employees at the banking institute; above the high, stiff collar of the coat his strong double-chin emerged; under the bushy eyebrows, his piercing, dark eyes looked out fresh and alert; his normally unkempt white hair was combed down painfully close to his scalp” (19). This is showng how drastically Mr. Samsa has changed from being an elderly man to being part of the working part of the population. Not only that, but Mr. Samsa has money remaining from his past business. This is important because this money could have been used to help support the family or to reduce the amount of the debt, and now Gregor is aware of the current money situation they are in, so if he were to return back to a human, he could find an easier job.
