The Importance Of Positive Learning Environment

Learning environment is one of the main factors that contribute to the learning of the students. Learning environment is anything that surrounds the students and affects the learning outcome of the students. Learning environment includes the teacher teaching them, their peers and the location of the class taken (outside or inside the classroom). The learning environment can be positive or negative depending on environment you create. Positive learning environment should be prioritized and made to have an effective teaching and learning process. This makes the students to be more open to actively participate in the class thereby benefiting from the lesson and get self motivated (How to create positive learning environment, 2014)

I would like the create a positive environment for my students to feel free and come forward to ask any issues that they face about study and other things that I can help them learn and grow. As a teacher, I do create a positive environment since I teach the freshman in the college. I want them to feel at college since it is their first time in the college days which will be different from their high school days. I try to be frank and open to them so that they do not get afraid or uncomfortable with me. I guide them to work on assignment and presentations which is new for them since they do not learn it in their high school days. I do give them a chance if they are not able to do their assessment on time in the first few week in the beginning with a warning. The challenge I face is the classroom management that my peer and my programme leader observed during the peer observation and class observation respectively. The students tend to take advantage of me being a lenient teacher which I actually did it to make them feel comfortable with me. They tend to come to class late and disturb the class when I am teaching, and also they chat and use mobile phones while teaching. This really made me upset so, I made some strategy to deal with these issues after consulting some of my senior faculties. I started stop teaching in between the teaching if the students chat and resume after they stop, taking attendence after entering the class and then closing the door after the attendance and marking the students absent if they come after the attendance, and also by reminding the students to stop using mobile if they do for the first time and then by sending them out if they repeat it again. I still help them though I had to be strict with them during the class hours. I am still trying this strategy and it helped to overcome the challenges. I have lots to experience and learn and I am hoping to a best teacher for them. I would like to create a positive environment and led my student learn
