Have you ever wondered what some of the negative effects of social media are and how it may be affecting you? Theres many you might know along with some you never even thought about. In today's society, social media has taken over and many have viewed it as a positive improvement and helps people be connected. Yet it can cause a negative impact creating a long-term problem if it gets out of hand.

Staited by an ebook under the name of “Social Impacts of Digital Media” and the website article both talk about how the constant use of social media allows many people to just communicate through there and not even bother to interact without it. For example if you look around a room a huge majority of people are glued to their phones instead of actually having a conversation with their so called friend sitting next to them. The constant use can also cause addiction and going a day or maybe a few hours can lead to feeling lost or empty, even as if you can’t function correctly. Depression can be caused by not having enough attention on your profile as in enough likes or comments, followers, or having enough chat streaks going on. Making some people feel forgotten, hated or ignored by the people they want to notice them most. The whole sleeping pattern dysfunction is a no brainer many of us lay in bed just looking at memes or the latest posts or snapchat stories.
