This research topic deals with “Effect of Positional Release Therapy and taping on unilateral upper trapezius tender Points-A randomized controlled trial”. This study is relevant to my study as they have used positional release therapy as a treatment entity to treat Trapezitis and found significant improvements in patients who suffer from it. They have compared taping, which is one of the therapeutic intervention for pain relief and Positional Release Therapy, to see what works better in case of upper trapezius tender points. I was interested in reading about this article since I can have a better judgment of the effectiveness of the therapeutic intervention that I am using in my study and use it as a supporting article to my study.

Dependent Variables: Improvement in the range of motion and Reduction in the pain symptoms.
Treatment applied to participants
After the patients were segregated into their respective groups, the treatment was given to the patients. The PRT group received PRT in supine position position.
The trigger points were identified, the patients neck was flexed at the site of pain along with shoulder abduction and flexion till the patient finds considerable amount of comfort. The trigger point is compressed with reasonable amount of pressure for 90 seconds and the neck is got back into the neutral postion. This is generally done for 5minutes.
Followed by the other group with taping.
Patients were made to sit and their arm was abducted to 80degrees.The anchor stripes with 6cm of tape with a v shape was applied on the upper arm and semicircular anchor arounf the patients thorax.2 support stripes were applied for reinforcement.
Conventional Exercises included
Shoulder elevation, depression
Protraction and retraction exercises
After the exercises, Moist heat was applied to the area.
