Poseidon In Greek Mythology

Poseidon was the greek God of the sea. He is also known as Neptune in Rome methodology. He was originally a top God of Mount. Olympus. But, he spent the greatest amount of time in his province of water.Poseidon was the sibling to his two brothers, Hades and Zeus. Their parents were Cronus and Rhea. They were titans, children of the Primeval deities Uranus and Gaea. Cronus and Rhea were siblings. They wed and had 6 children, Demeter, Hestia, Hera, Hades,Poseidon, and Zeus. While Cronus parent were alive they told him that one day one of his children would overcome him just as he did to his own parents. So as soon as each of his kids were born he swallowed them. Gods are immortal, so even though he swallowed his kids they would not be died. They were just adjourned of their powers while suspended in his body. Rhea was heartbroken to see all her children get swallowed by her husband. When Zeus was about to be born, the last child of Rhea and Cronus, Cronus was going to eat him like all of his other kids. But, Rhea didn’t want her child to get eaten. Therefore in the middle of a starless night Rhea took Zeus in her arms to hide in the prosperous island Crete; so he could be raised by the nymphs. Poseidon had a very stormy love life and had many offsprings. Lots of his offsprings were sea creatures. Amphitrite was Poseidon’s wife and main consort. She was a sea nymph and the daughter of Nereus and Doris. Nereus was an old sea God who reigned during Cronus time. Amphitrite was one of the Nereids, daughters of Nereus, who danced on the island of Naxos. After seeing her dance Poseidon choose her to be his wife. She declined and retreated to Atlas.
