The greatest dutch painter of our time is Vincent Van Gogh. Many of his works has influenced my pieces, such as: The Irises, Vase With Fifteen Sunflowers, and of course-- Starry Night. Whether it’s his use of implied lines or texture I can always find something that inspires me. You would think a doctor would be healthy and happy, but he was just as broken as Vincent. This just shows how people will put on a “mask”-- a silly façade to make others happy. For example, parents do this, they go out of their way to make their child happy. When I was little, my dad lost his work business, so he was out of work all of my third grade year. This didn’t stop him from going out of his way for me. We had this tradition that when we went to Wal-mart, I would get a doll. He didn’t have the money, but he still would buy me one. This is much like Doctor Gachet. He was at a low point in his life, but he still cared for Vincent. The Portrait of Dr.Gachet is many things to means because of the color scheme, the value, the texture of brush strokes, and most importantly, the story. This painting teaches us that even if we’re at the lowest points in our lives, there will always be a person who can bring us back from our darkness and show us the light again. Even if they are a
