Through all of my years of school I lived by the idea that school is mandatory, and if I had to be there I was going to make the most of it, and if I put in the hard work now, it will pay off later. Which is exactly what is happening for me with scholarships. I earned good grades and took on as many extracurricular activities as I could handle, and now I am a very competitive candidate. I am captain of the cross-country and track teams, a track state medalist, an AP Scholar, a member of the theater department, mock trial club, National Honors Society, and senior editor of the yearbook. Through all of these activities and events I was able to connect with so many people that helped shape me into the person I am today. That is why I always try to get to know as many people as I can, you’ll never know where other people can lead you until you get to know them.
Soon this chapter of life will be over and I will move onto the next, filled with new opportunities and new people. For a while I wanted to join the air force, and then I wanted to become a public defender. I believe that it may have come from all of my community service hours and how they helped me see the world in a new light. Every year for as long as I can remember I have been an elf, and helped deliver presents for Operation Santa, to those families who couldn’t afford to give their kids Christmas presents. And every year it humbles me. Everyone needs some shell shock in their life to help them see life through someone else’s eyes. Community service gives everyone that opportunity, which is why it is such a vital part of life, for both you, and those you are

Before attending high school, my elementary school teachers would talk about civic engagement, and their descriptions lead me to believe that participating in community service would be boring and burdensome. I remember my teachers saying things like,” In high school you’re going to have to do community service in order to graduate. Such as volunteer at an elderly home, or an animal shelter.” Prior to actually completing a service project, I only had an unappealing image of community service in mind. However, once I got to high school, I grew to love community service as well as learn the importance of…

The accomplishment of receiving the Jumpstart scholarship would do wonders in the next step for my education in the subsidizing of the costs that come with attending college. I seek to attend Johnson & Wales University and upon acceptance, have been fortunate enough to receive a significant number of grants and loans from the university that nearly cover my entire college tuition. Yet, my parents and myself still face the obstacle of paying for room rates as well as possible meal plans for the trimesters. This obstacle is only made harder in the additional expenses of books, transportation, off-campus meals and personal items. So, the possibility of receiving this scholarship plays a major factor into how far I will get into attending my first…

I have completed many hours of community service and I believe that it is my responsibility to involve myself in my community in any way possible. Getting involved in the community helps build a strong character and it teaches certain values that will benefit other communities. Speaking of community improvement, it is also my responsibility to pay any taxes set for me by our state and federal governments. Without taxpayer money, it would be impossible to maintain many of our most precious and crucial government funded organizations. If the American people allowed those organizations to fade away, we would be hurting our country and helping ourselves.…

When i was in high school I achieved a scholarship with taking a few classes such as geometry or art and design along with my job as an intern to get me as ready as possible for my job. With a scholarship I could afford 4 years in college to be ready for when I got out. The classes I was taking in high school helped me be prepared for college a little better. Learning from an architect (man paul was cool) really helped me get ready for the projects I would be assigned in college. From a young age, I always loved playing football; being out on the field is one of the best feelings ever. The adrenaline, hearing the crowd cheering, scoring touchdowns; it a rush that goes through my veins and I cannot get enough of it. I would play because I enjoyed it, but I had no idea how the simple game of football would change my life for the better.
