Portegello Interview

For this report I interviewed Robert Portegello of Robert’s Printing. Robert’s Printing is a family owned business in Brooklyn New York. We started this business with one thing in mind. To provide professional printing services in the Brooklyn area, this business was opened by selling blank pads with linear engraving, posters, and circulars. Before opening this business Robert had to access the local competition, luckily he knew what to do. Robert’s Printing was to have lower prices and better qualities than their competitors. At that time their consumer base was made up of churches, schools, and smaller local businesses. Each year the company grew along with it’s products and inventory. When asked about what kind of business was being ran …show more content…
The printing does all kinds of jobs, they do printing for churches and schools still, they also do ads, journals, letters, newspapers, flyers, business cards, wedding invitations, and birthday invitations. In the print shop’s early days it thrives in it’s location. One thing that is helping is that the print shop is partnered with another print shop owned by the portogallo. This helps jobs get done fast, this is one of the reasons why we are still up and running unlike other print shops that closed due to the rise in technology. The print shop gets most of it funds from journals. We also print the menus for nearby restaurants such as the La Polina and Salvies. I asked Robert what it took to succeed, he responded with “Adhere to commitments, even if it means you lose money on certain jobs or have to jump through hoops to follow through. That’s what it takes to succeed.” these wise words show that it is all about pleasing the customer. Even if you have to spend more then you make the main goal is to have the customer come back again in the future or leave satisfied with the job that they got. This shows a level off commitment that should be in place in all companies that plan on having a consumer base of average

For many years, Printzholf Press was considered to be one of the most prestigious textbook publishers in the country (Cespedes & St. Claire, 2013, p. 1). The company was very successful and hired their employees from the top, elite schools. The founders prided themselves in treating their employees more as family rather than workers. They felt they did not “need to tell them how to do their jobs” (Cespedes & St. Claire, 2013, p. 2). Managers had personal friendships with their workers and treated them as family in the workplace.…
