For a real adventure with your kids, fish the pond and spend the night in one of the the reasonably-priced rustic cabins available for rent on the shores of the pond from the Appalachian Mountain Club. Your youngster will find the pond's perch easy, exciting fun. Perch are active from the a.m. until dusk. At all times they school near the bottom in groups of 50 to 100. Poppers work like magic if your kid has an interest in fishing the surface. Best tactic is for dad or Uncle John or grampa to find a perch school with a live minnow first, hook an attractor perch, the leave the first fish wriggling and spinning on the hook to rouse the school's interest. Have your youngster drop a jig when the school moves in. Leaving the first fish on the hook a few minutes is the best way to provoke a rapid hit pattern. Alternative lures include bucktails, spinners, or bright jigs with bits of worm or gear as brightly-colored as a perch is --- reds, yellows, etc. Gaudy tactics like decorating your youngster's line-end with bits of bright-colored foil, cloth, or plastic also work, as does stringing four or five colored beads above the hook. Use a smooth and deliberate draw-back to hook-set. Two #4 or #6 hooks spaced 12" …show more content…
For as long as I can remember my dad has always fished and always had me there right along with him. In my 23 years of living I have cat fished and carp fished. I find it very relaxing and awesomely fun. My number one favorite place to fish is Sportsman Lake is Cowpens, SC. It is located at 184 Wallace Rd in Cowpens, SC. This lake is a carp fishing lake. There are also catfish in this pond, but it is mostly carp that you would be catching. There is a charge to fish, which changes from day to day. Also, there is jackpots that you can win for catching the largest and smallest fish of the day. It is a great place with alot of friendly people so that's why it's my number one favorite. My second favorite place to fish is a lake in Spartanburg County off of Airport Rd. It doesn't have a name and it doesn't cost to fish, but it is very relaxing. There are also catfish and carp in this lake as well. I've went to this lake since I was a child which is why it's one of my favorites. Another great place to fish at is Johnson Lake which is also located in Spartanburg County off of Southport Rd. This is a favorite of mine because the lake has picnic tables and large grassy areas for children to play. It's a great place to have a cookout at and have fun with the family. Small fishing boats are allowed on this lake, although I'm not sure if you have to have a fishing license. Mudd Creek lake in Inman, SC, located off of Mudd Creek Rd. is also a favorite

For me, the understanding and colouring of the modern history of Blackstone Lake starts with the stories and biographies of the settlers that tamed and worked the land surrounding the lake. As they did so, a historical framework of personalities, knowledge of the of the lake and a system of morals developed. I started out to answer what seemed to be some major questions to ask the archives and of history itself. They being the origins of each settler, why they or their ancestors came to Canada, and then to Ontario if not directly and why and when they came to the Parry Sound area. I felt that there must have been highly compelling reasons for why a family would leave their home country.…

As I listened to these stories, I couldn’t imagine the patience and skill my father had to endure while learning these techniques. At the age of seven, I was taught how to tie up a line, cast, and just wait for that perfect fish to bite.…
