In the story “Porsche” by Bailey White, the red model 365 Speedster signifies the only thing keeping the father alive during his stay in the house, and also represents the father revealing the potential chance of escape. The father left in the Porsche after he said “ ‘I can't take it anymore!’... ‘I'm stagnating here!..’ ”(White). During the time period the father was in that house, and he obviously felt tied down and unable to live his life normally. Furthermore, he felt restrained from the outside world because the house had so many old possessions of dead people, which makes the house into a crypt.
