Although pursuing a career as a Foot Health Professional at 19, I'd always known without a doubt in my mind that I wanted to further my knowledge and career in the field of Podiatry. My motivation in becoming a Podiatrist is an opportunity to not only add a new scope of treatment in my country Grenada and also due to the alarming rate of amputations that occurs with high risk patients that results from poor treatment and lack of proper education in foot health. The main aspiration in me pursuing a career in Podiatry is due to the death of my grandmother from diabetes related complications. Before her death, she had contracted gangrene, which resulted in her getting a double amputation of both lower limbs which left her depressed. Known that

Presently, I am doing voluntary work as a Foot Health Practitioner with the Ministry of Health in Grenada. In the chronic clinics I spend a total of 4 hours treating high risk patients with corns, callus, fungal nail infection and provide foot care advice as well as perform neurovascular assessment. This experience strengthens my communication skills with as well as treating various nail and skin conditions such as onychauxis, onychogryphosis and tinea pedis.
My choice in completing my studies in the UK is due to the excellent quality of education as well as the wide range of subjects and that the British universities offers and the diverse cultural traditions and places to explore.
