It is recommended that these patients stay locally, at Sarah’s House. This is a cancer hospitality house, but in order to stay there a patient must have someone accompany them. This is an impossiblity for many families with children or animals at home that need to be cared for. Some people do not have family or friends that are able to stay with them. If a patient is unable to stay at Sarah’s House, CCOM will make arrangements for them to stay at a local hotel and provide assistance with the cost. Another issue that Rebecca pointed out, was the cost of gasoline and maintainece on vehichles. These factors determine the status of a person’s health and help in the assesment of individuals in an aggregate and determine their effect on the person.
Biological: “Biological determinants of health are factors related to human biology that influence health and illness” (Clark, 2015). While ages range in down east Maine, the aggregate group was the elderly. The ages of the people in this group are more susceptible to illness and injury and are more likely to need stable health care for chronic disease. Relating to their biophysical determinants, this specific group of people of which many are ill, are more likely to develop other problems due to their compromised health.
Psychological: Psychological determinants of health are comprised of both internal and external psychological environments (Clark, 2015). Many in down east face depression due to the hard lives many of them have lived. There is a lot of stressors they face such as finding and maintaing work year round, financial stability and poor health. These stressors often impact coping abilities of the population and can increase the likelihood of poor
