In the past 5-10 years, there have been many critical challenges of population health in the United States. According to Public Health 3.0, a person’s zip code has more influence on a person’s health then their own genetic code. They mean many things when they say this. Many people in the same zip code are going to go to the same schools. Which means they are receiving the same education. For example, if the school said: during sex, condoms should be in use then the result will be different then students living in a zip code, where abstinence is encouraged. The zip code is also a way of figuring out income. People who live in an expensive zip code are going to pay more in property tax then people who live in lower income areas. This means that they will have different infrastructures. The people living in the same zip code are going to be going to the same grocery stores or market, receiving the same kinds of food.

The goal of Public Health 3.0 is to collectively get communities and the government to improve the health of the population. The innovative approach of Public Health 3.0 is also to include the improvements of Public Health 2.0 and Public Health 1.0.
