Representations of “The Great Gatsby” The films “The great Gatsby” as well as “Midnight in Paris” were directed to portray the vibe the directors wanted to carry all throughout the films with characters and music, taking inspiration from the novel “The great Gatsby”. The “midnight in Paris” took inspiration from the great Gatsby to help bring the film alive as well as the characters which were involved in it. Both films as well as the novel portrayed this loving couple that did anything to be together but at the end of the day that wasn’t enough to be together after all. There was always a character in the story that got in the way of their happiness.…
The Melting Pot I choose the “Arabian Waltz” by the Silk Road Ensemble as my song. This group is composed of “distinguished musicians, composers and performing artists from more than 20 countries around the world to celebrate, explore and experiment with a wide variety of cultural approaches to musical performances” (The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma: Live from Tanglewood). At the beginning of the piece I felt very serene with just a couple of instruments playing. However, when all the instruments joined in. the piece became more exciting.…
Rythm plays a big role in every music song, to me with out it there wont be any good songs. Rythm plays a huge role on "Maple Leaf Rag" it just makes you want to dance and node your head side to side. It also reminds me of a song that would be used on "Tom and Jerry". The rythm to a song just makes you want to get up and stop what you are doing and just dance, dance and more…

The Setting: “Stressed Out” by Twenty One Pilots was released in May 2015 along with their full album Blurryface. The meaning behind the song is about the transition into adulthood from childhood and having to live up to society’s expectations. The last couple of years has been a mark in history for fighting for individual rights and against society’s standards. 37 states have now legalized same sex marriage and people are beginning to stand up for their rights that they believe the government takes advantage of. The movement on feminism is also fighting back against what society has portrayed women to be.…
Music beat, lyrics and harmonizing are used in many different forms and ways to catch the attention of the audience. With all these different genres we are going to focus on one today and that on is Hip Hop. Hip Hop was created by Clive Campbell, also known as Kool Dj Herc. But many people want to know more than who made it.…
It pointed out the folk music establishment perpetrators of unfair criticism. It has social issues and social injustice like his prior works, he isn’t moving on, he remains in social issues. The vocals attract the listeners for its soft tune into it. Instrumentation plays a role, especially in the intro. The intros movement towards arrangement, which is the song’s main key, it keeps going throughout the song.…
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'.” ― Kurt Vonnegut, Timequake It is difficult to over evaluate the importance of the Beatles in the history of music.…
The composing process most often comes towards the end of the production, after the movie is fully filmed. Because of this, composers have the unique task of adding their interpretation and plot to a film after the actual narrative is already complete. Some composers choose to merely enhance what is already in the movie, but others choose to create their own stories for the characters that they then edit into the film via the soundtrack. According to Aaron Copland, there are five primary uses for music in film: to give a more convincing atmosphere of space and time, to refine the underlining psychological aspects of a character like his or her unspoken thoughts or the unseen implications of a decision, to serve as neutral background filler,…
Let me tell you about that “old school” 90’s, throwback, R&B love songs. These are they type of songs that actually make you feel the love. You can really pick up on how the singer passion is toward the thing they are talking about. The late 90’s and early 2000’s was the time of that “feel good” music. Back in this time artists were not afraid to tell a women that they loved them, wanted to spend the rest of their life with them, or shoot even wanted to make love to them.…
Eighties Music Compared To Today’s Music is something that many people take great pleasure in listening to. Music has evolved from the beginning with faintly recorded music to the music recognise today. These changes in music have been massive but have occurred very gradually without us noticing.…
Now that all the basic essentials technology wise has been identified and discussed, the anatomy of what exactly makes EDM, EDM must be explained. First off, much like any rock and roll song, there must be an ongoing backbeat. This beat sets the ‘mood’ of the piece. A faster backbeat will encourage the production of a high-energy song, such as house music, whilst a slow less elaborate backbeat will promote a low-intensity song which can build up progressively like trance or progressive house music (Wilson sayre, 2016). This back beat is usually a four-beat bass drum, made through the use of the drum machine.…
Funk music as an expression brought with it a newly packaged music that was capable of fully embracing both the performers’ and audiences energies. Funk emphasized dancing and how it further expressed implicit meanings not always explicitly understood through the lyrics. Funk music opened the door for a particular subculture, black youth, to take their form of dance expression and broadcast it across the United States through the culturally important program Soul Train. In particular, the importance of individual, creative dance broke the mold of many of the dancing trends in music that preceded it. This important aspect of musical expression transcended the era of funk and to this day dancing is still just as important in the world of music…
The piece of music that I’ve selected to write about is a solo piano composition named Für Elise that was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Für Elise literally translates to “For Elise”, a title that has raised many questions and few answers. The main reason that I’ve chosen this piece of music to write about is because it is a piece that is very well known, even to people who are not involved in music, and “is a common catalyst and inspiration that causes many people to become interested in the piano.” Für Elise is a revolutionary piece of music, and to support this claim we must first examine the fundamental elements in the piece as well as the emotion and visualization that makes this piece so impacting.…
For centuries, people have found some sort of comfort/aid in the various genres and sounds of music. Although, with these different genres of music, people with different backgrounds can listen to something they can relate to, or maybe something that makes them feel good. Throughout the years, music has changed for both the good and not-so good, from bringing kids closer to God, to including more vulgarity. Those are just some of the ways music has changed within popular culture. Music is also very influential in the minds and behaviors of children and teens, by giving them a sense of inspiration and wonder.…
