However, all the leading factors that influence adolescents to drink alcohol for example other people like friends and family proves that adolescents still drink even though they are not eligible. Other leading factors that influence adolescents to drink alcohol are popular media and their own behavior. But why are friends and family able to persuade an adolescent to drink, why is popular media influencing them, and importantly why are adolescents behavior leading them to seek to drink alcohol. Building a strong trustworthy relationship, understanding, and supporting an adolescent influences them to avoid drinking alcohol at that age. “When adolescent have a strong bond with a parent, they are able to feel good about themselves and therefore be less likely to give in to peer pressure to use alcohol” (National Institute, 2006, P.3). Which is one of the leading factors in why adolescent drink alcohol peer pressure from friends and even family members that are not their parents.
