A quote from Pope Urban II in source one, makes the people seem like they are not in control and just irrelevant, by saying they are shepherds and this is sort of an analogy of saying that they are gods people, that they have been born with control, but they aren’t acting or using their power like they should, the pope is trying to say that if they were really gods people they would be going to fight.

The similarity between the speeches is that all of the speech’s are directed towards making a place change its mind about an ongoing idea.
From Source 2 this is evident when the pope talks about leaving their family to go to the crusade. The pope is saying that everyone and anyone who “forsaken houses” or in other words leaves to go to the war, will be rewarded greatly.
