Pope Francis's Persuasive Speech

Improved Essays
Beth seems to always give great presentations. Her persuasive speech on Pope Francis was one of those. It was obvious that Beth spent a lot of time preparing the speech and creating her outline. I am not sure of her exact organization pattern for the speech, but she used the class topic and focused on Pope Francis’ environmental plan. Her organization of her presentation aid and speech were easy to follow, and helped increase the persuasion on how Pope Francis’ plan could be helpful to the world. Beth provided an abundance of information in trying to persuade the class, and made sure that it was understandable for all. Her performance reflected that she spent time practicing her speech, but she was not ready to be the first in the class to

Florida megachurch pastor Paula White has earned criticism after she said U.S. President Donald Trump is “authentically raised up by God” and even compared his election to the biblical story of Queen Esther. In an appearance on the PTL Network’s “The Jim Bakker Show” broadcast on Aug. 22, Pastor White likened Trump’s rise to the presidency to Queen Esther’s coronation as a respected queen even though she was an unlikely candidate for the position. Recently my two classmates have shared their opinions on two speeches titled Gay marriage in America and Georgia tech freshman convocation speech. Thus, Shelby, as a college student (ethos), tells very emotionally about the major things which every student of his college must know. He actively uses tone and gestures to express his thoughts and make the audience believe what he says.…

The third best presentation was Teenage Drinking and Driving by Hayley Breitschuh. She made it very personal by adding the story about the crash at Stoney Creek. It was in the logos style because it gave more facts than stories and it was in the Rogerian style because the other side of the argument is completely wrong. A counter argument would be that teen drunk driving is okay because it was their decision to drink in the first place. The audience it would be for is teenagers and their…

Through the progression of this course, various aspects of history were viewed, in addition to concepts that are still associated to the lives of Aboriginal peoples today. While carrying some previous, biased knowledge on the topics discussed, First Nations Studies allowed the development of many ideas as well as the differing perspectives on each. Via the use of assorted reading selections, tutorial discussions, guest speakers, lectures, and a variety of other forms, I was able to take away a unique understanding, different to the one I had prior, which in turn educated me on Indigenous communities. This course attempted to bypass the anger that has been accumulated over the years, and portray information in order to avoid further issues…

From watching the persuasive speech, it is a recurring theme in my process of watching myself speak that I am much more sympathetic of myself after given said speech. Her word choice was carefully picked, precise and clean. Her tone was a calm yet persistent one where one could see how subtle but also determined she was on her work. She would pause just enough to make a clean speech, she didn’t hurry off or seemed nervous in any way which only interested the audience into paying attention to her. However, one may think that she would have an even more effective speech if she would of played with her voice a little more or do some sort of hand gestures. If she would have changed her voice into a stronger one she maybe could have expressed some strong feeling that wasn’t empathy or remorse.…
