I have always been drawn towards Pop Art. Pop art emerged in the early 1950’s and ended in mid 1970’s.In between these two decades the world of fine art saw some of the best works from artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, James Rosenquist among others. Campbell’s Soup Cans, President Elect, Blam are some of the most recognised pieces from this style. Through MA Fine Art I would like to paint on canvases and amalgamate Pop Art with Abstractism to create pieces that capture the soul of the subject. I intend to highlight through my paintings what an average person misses to record in the intimacy of candid moments. The mediums of my paintings include oil, water, acrylic colours, ink, and lustre dust over either canvases or sheets.
I intend to redefine Pop art through my paintings and not limit it to popular culture imagery, bold strokes or colours. Through my work I would like people to take a step back from their fast pacing lives and cherish the intimate moments that life throws at us which we often forget to notice. Pay attention to the details in the paintings and remember each small step that has led towards that moment.
My work often requires photographic references which I like to capture and turn into paintings. The inspiration strikes from anything and everything. Bride walking down the aisle or a homeless kid on the side of the road. Each moment is special in its way. I like to visit art galleries, studios and showcases of different artists to gain knowledge about different Medias and subjects. These help broaden the creative horizon and inspire to challenge what has already been
