Andy Warhol Research Paper

Andy Warhol later on became a pop art legend because of his talent of drawing shoes during the early creative stages of his career. He ended up earning a spot in the cultural timeline…Just like Mr Warhol, Atang Tshikare who us based in cape town , born in bloemfontein, he studied graphic design and spent 2 years in the UK but moved here and did art full time, he is an artist/illustrater who says his passion began with his obsession with sneakers and him always customising sneakers. John Norman took it upon himself to investigate on Atang Tshikare by talking to him about Zabalazaa (surface design and illustration gallery/studio) and the bicycles that are for social upliftment.

It depends on what subject it is I am drawing; I like a lot of things that I don’t see every day and things that are inspiring, such as colours.”

Message behind the artworks:
“For me it is really about having fun. If you look at my previous exhibition you will realize that the content is dark with a funny element included.”
Zabalazaa:
“It’s a lot of things. ‘Zabalaza’ means ‘to hustle’, mine is spelled differently – it’s about art, so I added an extra ‘a’. It’s something I created to give people a platform, I see people creating stuff but they don’t know where to showcase it, it’s basically a creative solution for individuals.”
Expectations:
“Something different. A lot of people know ‘Zabalazaa’, and then there is me, Atang (the individual). I’ll be showing both. One side is more serious, the other side more playful. It’s gonna be mostly portraits of African individuals who made a big positive change in the world such as the legendary Patrice Lumumba and many other ones.”
A man of colour?:
“Yeah, colours make people happy.”
What question would you like me to ask you?:
‘Why do I work so hard?’
What would the answer be?
That it seems as if I was avoiding people, but the reality is simply that I just enjoy what I do so

While examining Alex Da Corte’s exhibit, Free Roses, I felt comfort through immersion in both the complexities and simplicities of life presented by the artwork. As I walked into the first and main room of the exhibition, the first aspect of it that caught my eye was its layout. The arrangement engendered eight different zones that were positioned in a grid-like manner so that people could fully immerse themselves in the art and walk around each part. After examining, the different zones I sensed the connection; I felt as if I was a visitor in someone’s home. The lights hanging above each zone provided me with a deeper engagement because I felt as if I was under the same roof as the imaginary inhabitants of the exhibit.…

Inspired by the children literature illustrator, Jimmy Liao, I hope to record my thoughts and materialize my idyllic sanctuary on canvases and papers. I enjoy painting fantasy landscapes with acrylic. In painting acrylic, I found the rendering of the sky most mesmerizing. I like to juxtapose the realistic object at the focal point with an abstract surrounding, like the trees and mountains in Piece 2, 4, and 5. Besides fantasy landscapes, I also like to paint objects either realistically or abstractly as shown in piece 6 and 7; in those “observations”, my main concentration is to explore the appropriate color scheme to convey my feelings towards those objects.…

Sunday, August 28th was the Brauer Museum of Art’s opening reception for two new, and extremely different, exhibitions. External Reflections- Internal Wars and True to Form: Works from Chicago Sculpture International will be displayed six days a week at the Brauer Museum of Art until December 11th. The reception was filled with elderly art lovers, art majors, and freshman looking to fill one of their seven required fifth hour credits. Being both an art major and a freshman seeking to fill her fifth hour requirements, I found the reception simultaneously mundane and intriguing at the same time. External Reflections- Internal Wars is a series of photographs taken by artist Louise Witkin-Berg in 1975.…

Another writer, Alice Rawsthorn, asks what the true definition of an artist is in this modern world, deciding that it can be anyone. Through her piece, “Can Anybody be a Designer?” Rawsthorn discusses “Unnamed,” an exhibition held in South Korea. This exhibition explores innovation in places that one would normally never look; the code involved in a computer virus can be just as majestic as a rainbow barcode where each color signifies one of the four nucleotides of DNA (adenine, thymine, guanine, and cytosine). She argues, “the process [humanity] now recognize as design was practiced long before, whenever prehistoric men and women sought to improve their surroundings: say by making a clay bowl to drink from, rather than cupping their hands,”…

Artistic Soul in the Heart of the Boot Saturday nights in Baton Rouge can be a drag when you 're an artist looking to get your five minutes of shine and turn-up all under one roof. A group of eclectic artists were inspired by random weekly hangouts, that originally began as discussions on love, debates about race and intense games of beer-pong. These nights would turn into full turn-up sessions and tear fest, where we ignored life and jam out like no other but, no one was ever watching. Nights like this we would record, replay later and marvel at the pure improv genius of all the local undiscovered talent. Melodic music and beautiful harmony aren 't the only things ringing the ears of listeners at these gatherings.…

It does not matter whether your concerns with equal rights, injustice or abortion rights, you create the art in spite of how people feel. Seneferu wondered why she had not taken on the term feminist and questions her reservations of being labeled a man-hater. She identifies as an “Africanist,” this holistic definition recognizes the importance of African aesthetics as a vehicle for creating self-actualization and the healing relationship to African cosmology. She would only identify herself as a black feminist if it dealt with challenging those social ills of the African-American community that she experienced. She focuses on alternative solutions instead of attempting to resistant problems.…

Every person in this world has an individual creativity built within them. My individual creativity personally took me a while to uncover, I only recently unearthed my true creativity during my junior year. I express my creativity through makeup, poetry, painting, drawing and redecorating my surroundings such as my room which I like to think of as my sanctuary because it’s the only place I can disconnect myself from everything, focus on myself and reflect on my days. Makeup is my main outlet of expression since that’s the one that’s in the spotlight and is a quote on quote paraded for the public eye to see when used correctly and minimally to enhance ones beauty it makes a person look more presentable and put together. I was inspired to write…
