Poosadas: A Short Story

Christmas in that town was fun, we would have multiple posadas at different friends houses. Posadas are parties done in December in which there is singing and breaking piñatas, and dinner is eaten. One particular December we went to three different posadas, one was with our neighborhood where all the people and kids gathered around the street and we all played and broke the piñata, the kids going crazy when it broke, the sound of falling coins and scrambling kids ringing in the chilly night air. I loved going to my grandparents’ for the posada that they held every year and all of my mom’s 12 brothers and sisters gathered at the house and there were so many of my cousins that I probably didn’t know half of them.
