The Diamond In the Rough (Working Conditions):
When it comes to American Industrialization, most people think that the bad outweighs the good. However, if they look harder they can see that the Industrial Era in America had a lot of good effects. Through it’s poor working conditions, we gained new labor laws. We also experienced many technological advances, and an economic boom in America. Due to the fact that all of these things happened during this time, the Industrial Era was a positive time for America.
One of the many things that people site as a main problem during the industrial era is its poor working conditions. These have been noted many times by muckrakers, such as in Upton Sinclair's The Jungle. Examples also include Document 5 of the DBQ packet, which discusses the "...gas, the floods,...falling rock,..." and,"...the hundred perils,.." of working in a mine, and Document 6, which showcases a picture of many children working

This resulted in an increase in GNP- as stated in Document 1-, and in conspicuous consumerism. This was due to a “mass culture” that was brought about by advertisements, such as the one seen in Document 7, and ad for a laundry machine featuring women. This advertisement, and those like it, were meant, at the time, to convince people to buy products, and raise the standard of living. Now, with all of the technological advances, hard work, and economic increase, America was at an all time high.
The Industrial Era in America had an overall positive effect. It's usually negative working conditions brought about changes in labor legislation. Economical interest rose due to new higher standard of living. Technological advances were also experienced during this time period. Though many people want to deny it, it is because of all of these things that Industrialization had a positive effect on
