I think that when ponyboy saied "We don't mind being called greaser by another greaser" he was going for that the socs have more money and are "higher up" in sociaty then the greasers so I think they feel it's ok because there at the same levle in sociaty because they don't have much money and ar looked down apon.It can also be that they are an actule group or gang because they don't stab each other in the back they all look out for one another and will help each other unlike the socs they trun there backs on each other and stab each other in the back so they aren't really a group or gang. Ther is one example in the book were ponyboy says that when we call each other Greasers we are joking around. and he also explains the hole thing about
