Ponyboy Speech

Decent Essays
My names Ponyboy. Ponyboy Curtis. My mom purchased me this journal before her and my father died in an auto wreck eight months ago. If she were here, it would have really made her joyful seeing me use it. Since both of my parents died, my older brother Darry became mine and my other brother Sodapop's legal guardian. It makes me feel bad that since Darry is responsible for the both of us, he never got the opportunity to go to college, or even have a suitable job. He works lengthy, taxing hours roofing houses to provide for us. Sodapop drooped out of school and began to work full time at the gasoline station to help with the bills. We're Greasers, so he never had a great quantity of money to begin with, so we attempt to conserve every penny. …show more content…
I really shouldn't say that it is a gang; it is more like a group of friends who stick together. In our group pf friends, there is four other members. First, there's Two-Bit, who's real name is Keith Matthews. He's a kleptomaniac and a junior in high school at 18. Personally, I don't think he'll ever grow up and graduate high school. Then, there's Steve Randle, who's been Sodapop's best friend since grade school. He still goes to school, so he only works part time at the gasoline station with Sodapop. He doesn't like me that much; he considers me a tag-along. Then, there's Johnny, who's the second youngest of the group and is my best friend. His parents are abusive, so he ends up staying at my house a lot. A few months ago, Johnny got beaten up appallingly by our rival gang, the Socials, who are the wealthy kids. Ever since that day, Johnny has been extremely quite. And finally, there's Dallas Winston. Dally has a police record a mile long and he's quite proud of it. He's the toughest out of all of us, since he grew up on the rough side of New York, before moving here to Tulsa. In my opinion, I feel as though I'm the least interesting person in the gang. I'm fourteen and already a freshmen in high

In one instance, Dally is tougher and meaner than the rest of the group. This shows that Dallas is more violent than the rest of the gang. In another event, a man told Dallas to move over in a candy store, Dally turned around and belted him so hard that he knocked the man’s tooth loose. With those acts, I can determine that Dally is a violent character that is dangerous when he is mad. One other example is when Ponyboy is talking with the Soc girls about Dally they describe how he is so tough and mean, from that I can decide that Dallas is…
