In my opinion, Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are heroes because they saved those kids from the fire. If they hadn't gone into the old abandoned church, the kids would have never gotten to safety. I believe that a hero is someone that puts themselves before others, not necessarily like saving people. I believe that you could be a hero by doing something like putting someone else’s needs ahead of yours. I think that Johnny, Ponyboy and Dally all fall into that category, and I believe that even when Johnny stabbed the Soc named Bob, he was still a hero, even if he did kill someone.…

The reader learns this after Johnny and Ponyboy run into a burning church to save some kids that went into the building. After they found them, this is what happened, “One was screaming his head off and Johnny yelled,’Shut up! We’re goin’ to get you out,’’ (Hinton 92). In other words, Johnny went into a burning building and saved the kids even though he didn’t have to. This event illustrates heroism because he went into a burning building that could collapse anytime to save kids he didn’t even know; this shows that he is not scared if what he’s doing is…

Heroes or villains Many readers of the book the outsiders think that the greasers are villains or heroes. In the book the outsiders by S.E.
