“Stay golden Ponyboy” Johnny says as he lay dying. A character I believe that I am similar to is Ponyboy Curtis from the book The Outsiders. First, I believe Ponyboy Curtis and I share an outstanding amount of similarities such as our hairstyles I have heard people say it looks like a fall leaf dancing in the wind. Second, Ponyboy and I happen to look alike I believe. Last, Ponyboy and I both came from similar crime filled places that would be so unexpected anywhere else but where I used to live there were robberies and all kinds of crimes.

First of all, Ponyboy is a fourteen-year old boy. He grew up in a shady slum town like a hood although he wasn’t really a hood. Ponyboy has two older siblings Sodapop and Darren. Also we are alike in

Comparing Johnny Cade to Pony is a very fair comparison. Just like Ponyboy, Johnny is misunderstood. He has an abusive home life, but he is always the for his friends even when it may mean getting in serious trouble. For example, Pony and Johnny ran away from home and got jumped be a gang of socs. When Ponyboy was in the process of getting drowned by a soc named Bob, Johnny took out his switchblade and killed Bob.…

    5) Before Johnny died he told Ponyboy to “stay gold”. This was inspired by the Robert Frost poem, “nothing gold can stay”. The main idea of the poem is that life happens in short-lived moments. Good things don’t stay long enough. Johnny is reminding Pony to cherish every moment because he knows that pony has his whole life in front of him, and shouldn’t take it for granite.…

Some of the similarities was that the movie had some of the same exact lines from the book such as, “I got a good chance of bein’ let off easy” (Hinton 87). Parts of the movie were exactly like the book. Including the time when Pony, Johnny, and Dally went to Dairy Queen and when Johnny got the food for them when They were at the church (Hinton 87-88). Another similarity is when both Ponyboy and Johnny watch the sunrise and Pony says out loud the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” (Coppola, The Outsiders). Some differences are that when they both start.…

S.E. Hinton wrote The Outsiders and introduced many unique characters. Each individual had their own situation, problems, and struggles which shaped them into the people they were. Two members of the gang, Dallas Winston and Johnny Cade, are different from what they seemed in the first half of the book. Dally was known as a hardened thug, but deep down, he cared about others. Johnny Cade was a boy who seemed meek, but was actually one of the strongest characters mentioned in the story.…

The “Outsider” I am most like is Ponyboy Curtis because we both have many things in common, including being accused of lacking common sense, our school smarts, our physical age, fitness, and love of reading. For example, my mom often humorously quips about my lack of common sense, which I somewhat agree with, which is mirrored in the book when Ponyboy describes what people think of him on page 4. Also on page 4, it states Pony’s age to be 14, the same as my own. Ponyboy also does very well in school because of his brains and has a distinct fondness for reading, like me. Another trait we share is a knack for physical aerobic capacity, or the ability to run for a long time.…
