Ponyboy,

Well I guess you got into some trouble, huh? Darry and me nearly went nuts when you ran out like that. Darry is awful sorry he hit you. You know he didnt mean it. And then you and Johnny turned up missing and what with that dead kid in the park and Dally getting hauled into the station, well it scared us something awful. The police came by to question us and we told them as much as we could. I cant believe little old Johnny could kill somebody. I know Dally knows where you are, but you know him. He keeps his trap shut and wont tell me nothing. Darry hasnt got the slightest notion where your at and its nearly killing him. I Wish youd come back and turn yourselves in but I guess you cant since Johnny might get hurt. You sure are famous. you got a paragraph in the newspaper even. Take care and say hi to Johnny for us.

Also that were safe and you don’t have to worry about us. I miss you all so much but I have to stay here with Johnny. He did nothin wrong he was just protecting me and himself. If Johnny hadn't of killed that Soc Bob then he would have killed me. Johnny saved my life now I have to stay with him, it's the only thing that I feel is right. I ain't mad at Darry for hitting me anymore if anything I miss him very much. When I was at the park I was going to sit there for sometime and come back after. But then the Socs came and made it worse. I want to come home but I can't leave Johnny it's not right. I can’t leave him alone. I know what you mean I can’t believe out of everyone Johnny killed him. I never expected him to do that but he did it for self defense. Im sorry you had to face the police because of us. Thank you for understanding why we have to stay

Other characters in the book have a solid definition of Ponyboy in their head because they have lived and been with him for a long time. However as shown through the question answers above Ponyboys definition or actions change throughout the book and since the book happened in the time span of a few weeks the changes that overcame Ponyboy were very sudden in appearance to the other characters in the story. Ponyboy was really the first person I could express my opinions to and the first person I could really talk to about how I feel about this stupid social division we have to go by. Even though he doesn’t really understand how we Socs have problems too, I can see that he at least sort of understands- not completely, but just a little… Knowing that he sort of understands is a mixed feeling of relief and just a bit of an absurd feeling as well, I mean, a Soc and a greaser actually having a nice conversation.. I didn’t expect him to actually understand at all, but I also didn’t expect him to be completely ignorant about it either. “Cherry, look what’s coming,” Marcia quickly addressed. I watched the blue Mustang as it was coming down the street.…

In S.E Hinton's novel, "The Outsiders," Johnny was a sixteen-year-old that acted in self-denial and wasn't guilty of murder. Before all of this happened, Johnny hanged out with Cherry, Marcia, and Ponyboy at the movies until they saw a blue Mustang coming straight through their way. In good order when the Socs got out of the Mustang, Johnny was breathing heavily that Johnny's face has been cut up by "someone wearing rings"(44). The reason being is that he got beaten up by the Socs when the last time they saw each other, and in Ponyboy's words, Johnny was "scared of his own shadow"(4). Afterward, he was crying when they found him half cautiously in the corner quite a little.…

It is possible for two young boys from the same world to be so different but similar at the same time. Both of the boys are greasers but not all greasers are the same which makes them similar in some ways but very different in other ways. A way that Johnny and Dally are similar is how they both have parents who don't care about them, another way that Johnny and Dally are similar is how they both give little value to their lives. A way Johnny and Dally are different is how Dally is tough and hard and Johnny is kind. Another way Johnny and Dally are different is how Daly likes fights and rumbles and Johnny does not like that because he believes nothing good comes out of fights.…
