Polymerisation of Cyclo pentene, Cyclo hexanes, Substituted Cyclo pentene and Cyclo hexanes using different catalyst
Introduction:-
Polymer is a word which is derived from Greek words “poly” which means many and “mer” which means parts. Polymers are substances which have large number of repeating structural units repeated in the same type of linkage. The chemistry that deals about polymers is called polymer chemistry and the reaction is called as polymerization. Polymer chemistry have a wide range of application in day to day life and the research and recent advanced in this field are both industrially and academically notable and increasing day by day . In this review essay I am going to briefly discuss about polymerization. Introduction to polymer chemistry, different types of polymer, the different kinds of polymerization mechanism, Then specifically focused on …show more content…
The product formed by the polymerization reaction is called as polythene. Globally about 80 million tons of polyethylene is produced. The important application of the polymer is for packing.
The monomer used in this reaction is C2H4. The monomer is usually produced from petro chemical process or by dehydration of ethanol. The most widely used catalyst for the polymerization of ethylene are titanium(III)chloride which is popularly called as the Ziegler Natta catalyst and also Philips catalyst is widely used. The polymerization process carried out for ethylene is highly exothermic. Polythene can also be produced by using a radical polymerization method but this process needs high pressure apparatus and also it has limitation.
Based on density and branching polyethylene can be classified into different types they are the following: 1. Ultra High Molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)
2. Ultra Low Molecular weight Polyethylene
