This marble free - standing sculpture is a nude male athlete, who seem to lean on a broken part of a tree. This sculpture look like it could had been done by the sculptor that go by the name Polykleitos of Argos because of the Canon focused on the proportion of the body that in the relationship to each other to create the ideal human figure and to allow see symmetria in the Canon. The young man also show contrapposto by one leg bears the weight of the body while the other leg is in a resting position. His thorax and pelvis slope in opposite creating an S curve shape in order for the body to be in balanced. This give the sculpture what seem a relax aspect. Also, the position of his feet is look like the balance between standing and walking.
