No one test can diagnose polycystic ovarian syndrome. Like stated before there has to be two conditions present for diagnosis. Medical history plays an integral part in diagnosis with the genetic predisposition. Also, the physical exam and pelvic exam can support the laboratory values. Lastly, a vaginal ultrasound can determine if there are active cysts or not. Not every case of polycystic ovarian syndrome will present with cysts, but it is one of the criteria that can establish a diagnosis (McCance & Huether, 2014).
