1.0 Nomenclature and distribution
According to Chee and M, (2013) the scientific name or botanical name of Tongkat Ali Hitam is Polyalthia bullata or also known as Polyalthia bullata King. The local names of Polyalthia bullata are including Black Tongkat, pokok Peleh Angin, Tongkat Ali Baginda and Sepeleh Angin (Rahsiaherbal.com, 2016).

The height can up to 2-3 meters. Young branches of the plant is usually covered with golden hair. It has flat-shaped, long and green leaves. The length of the leaves can be up to 30-35cm and width up to 10-12cm (Chee and M, 2013). The leaves have shiny surfaces. This plant also has 25-40 pairs of leaves bones and it has pointed-shaped leaves at the end of the leaves. The petiole is stout and 3-5mm long.
The stem of the plant can reach up to 2-3cm. P. bullata can be characterized as a single straight trunk. According to Saad, (2016) the straight trunk is black in colour and it is the reason why it is called as Tongkat Ali Hitam by the locals. Besides, the plant has cream-coloured flowers. The flowers of P. bullata have six long petals. Every year, flowering of this plant occurs two times just before the new leaves appear. The growth of the P. bullata is delaying in the beginning stage but gradually its growth becomes rapid in the later stage (Chee, and M, 2013). Figure 1. The leaves Figure2. The plant

According to Saad (2016), the main use of P.bullata is to strengthen the kidneys. Besides, according to him, this plant can be used to improve blood circulation for both men and women, to treat numbness and as aphrodisiac booster. Usually, roots of P.bullata will be boiled together with Freycinetia malaccensis (Rancang Besi) or Smilax calophylla (Rancang Tembaga) to increase libido in men. Its effect in improving blood circulation is mainly the reason why P.bullata is claimed can be used to treat kidney problems and boost aphrodisiac in men. He is also added that, this roots can be also used to treat vein pain, back aches and chest pain. We can either directly boil the roots or dry the roots first and then boil the dried roots for consumption. Some of the roots is boiled with one liter water until become half liter and to be consume twice daily,which is once in morning and night. (Saad,
