Imagine yourself in a scary video game, you see the fog, the darkness, everything seems so grey, how could something like this become a reality? However it has already become a reality, in China. The bad environment in China, because of the pollution, is affecting the citizens physically and emotionally. Currently, China is putting the success of their economy over the safety of their own environment, and this needs to change. In addition, the pollution is ruining China’s present and future economy in numerous ways. Although, there are so many ways that China can solve this pollution problem, it will cost them. From the quote, "To be honest, I did not feel any physical discomfort with the smog. The sky just doesn 't look clear. With no blue sky and sunlight in sight, I 'm feeling rather depressed."(Van Oot), it is seen that the citizen does not feel any physical effects from the pollution however they do feel an emotional effect, such as being depressed because of how grey and dark the sky is. Furthermore, a quote from the same article states, “ Do you worry about your health and future?Yes, I do worry about it. Though physically, I don 't feel the smog hitting me or changing my body, I do fear the impacts of long-term intake.”(Van Oot), with this citizen they do not have any health problems because of the pollution, however they are worried and uncomfortable about the long term effects of it. From seeing a first person point of view of the pollution in China, there is now a more accurate representation of how the environment really is, although it does not affect them now they do fear the future effects of the pollution. And the pollution in China is indeed giving them a symptom of depression which is one of the most common mental illnesses in the world. But what is causing pollution in the first place? In the quote, “Its main sources of pollution are vehicles, coal-burning, industry and dust from construction sites.”(Associated press), it explains exactly what is mainly causing the pollution.
