Each slide had one poll that had four answer choices. We made two different directions for the non-confederates and the confederates. For the non-confederates, the paper slip described their directions (Appendix F). They were allowed to use scrap paper to solve the questions without a calculator, and they had 30 seconds to complete each poll. The confederates’ paper slips (Appendix G) explained that they were chosen to be the participants in our experiment. We informed them that we needed them to choose the incorrect answer for each question and provided them the wrong answer to choose for each question. Also, we advised them to answer the question as soon as it pops up. Before going into each class to experiment, we were given the total amount of students which allowed us to multiply the total number either by .7 or .3 depending on the percentage of confederates we were testing in that class.
