He claimed the history of mankind was all part of a long cycle, at each stage mankind would progress to newer/better phase. The stages he outlined are as follows- Early Communism, Slavery, Feudalism, Capitalism, Post-Capitalist age or Communism. Each phase was seen as period of progress which Marx interpreted to mean that human progress was scientific in nature. Marx 's arguments are fundamentally down to ideology. On the other side of the argument, it could be suggested that humans are now in a post-ideological era as discussed by Francis Fukuyama in his book 'The End of History ' in which he claims society has passed ideology which would make Marx 's theories redundant and all scientific thought in Politics would no longer be required, which can be put down to Marx 's ideas being merely ideologically based. Furthermore the final stages of Marx 's theory has not taken place yet which implies his theory will not be completed. However Marx 's process of history has evidently taken place to varying degrees, which would indicate that Marx 's ideas do show that the political relationship is scientific as we have and the process has not been completed yet so cannot be disproven.
