Political Typology Quiz

Improved Essays
It is clear that the majority of older folk are Republican and younger people are more likely to be Democrats. But as a young person growing up with Republican parents, I wondered where I stood especially with the presidential election coming up. So when I took the political typology quiz, I learned where I stand, what I believe in, and how becoming more informed affected my results.
The first time I took the quiz, my results read Sold Liberal. I was quite surprised since I grew up learning the right was superior to the left and Democrats just wanted free money. I sent the quiz to my parents and they received business conservative. It was clear that there was now tension in the family, but it made the debates even more interesting. After watching

I agree with the typology that I received. Coming from a strictly conservative, middle class family, my economic views have been highly influenced by my family. I do believe I am on the republic side when it comes to increasing jobs, and lowering taxes for the middle class. I believe that the less government interference, the better. On the social side however, I believe that growing…

John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States, once said, “always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost” (Pine, 14). Although, Adam’s notion of voting your conscience seems reasonable there is a definite line between a candidate’s assumed and genuine truth that frequently goes unnoticed. American citizens rarely have the privilege to vote in an election that has avoided the dilemma of choosing a presumed lesser evil or that has escaped society’s ostracizing grasp from doing so. The presidential election of 2016, is without a doubt, a prime example of such an exhausting and frustrating decision. However, with the help of the questionnaire isidewith.com provides, the results made my decision significantly less daunting by demonstrating that my principles align with Hillary Clinton’s.…

According to the Pew Ideology Poll I am classified under the category of Solid Liberals, along with about 65% of my classmates. When I analyze my views with the pew typology profiles I find that most of my views align with the secular democrat profile. My political opinions are strongly driven by social issues, I am not very religious, I am very pro-environment, I support government to the extent that it functions efficiently and is not manipulated by money and power. These views on politics are nearly identical to secular democratic views and not very similar to any other voter classification. (Brem, R. 47)…

I had already know that large cities tend to be liberal, that poor people tend to vote more liberal, that the coasts tend to be more liberal. I honestly think the reasoning behind those facts and data graphs is that those places tend to have a higher rate of diversity, more of a cultural melting pot, and a higher focus on politics since big cities have more of a say and thus want to participate, are usually involved more in politics. I also disagree with Gelman’s argument that older people are more involved in politics than the younger generation. While I do admit that previously, the younger generation was not involved in politics, I believe that increasingly young people, like me, want to be involved in politics and are seeking out opportunities starting from a young age. Young people now are growing up in a generation where it’s hard to avoid becoming political when important issues such as climate change, hate speech, and mass shootings are affecting our generation most.…

Not only will the parties positions and candidates will be shown to voters they talk about the benefit of voting and what failing to vote could lead to the other parties candidate success negatively affect them and their children. Despite the frowning about people voting for the party not the candidate by media, political scientist have found the party label to be effective and powerful and accurate information shortcut that leads to voters not having to focus much on the extensive information of the candidate when deciding on who to…

According to a 2014 poll, 18-25 year olds largely identified as either Democratic or Independent. Republican was the least identified party (Partisanship and Political Typology, 2014). In this way I fit into the norm of my age group. I do not believe that my ideology is very strong, I am still trying to figure out where I fit on the political spectrum. No one person has the true answer to everything political, and I believe that it will always be an open ended process with room for change, hence the amendments to the constitution. At my age, however, I do find it important and necessary for everyone in our country, my generation especially to do their research on elections as monumental as that of the President of the United States. I truly believe in the requirement of government classes, and I am so thrilled that I could take mine in a time such as this, so that I can help myself to fully understand my impact on the nation come…

    Politics In America

We should hold this truth to be self-evident: that we, the people, have not held up our end of the “social contract” between us and our government. Perhaps our disenfranchisement with the government is one of our own making. Perhaps our role in government needs to go beyond mere obligations, or even participation. And perhaps the emerging divide between the government of the people, by the people, and for the people with those very people can be ameliorated by something as simple as education. As per the aforementioned words of former Prime Minister Churchill, it is incontrovertible that an educated voting populace lies at the very heart of any democratic country.…

I was first exposed to republican ideas near the end of my freshman year, when a couple of upperclassmen approached me and my friends at lunch and asked, “Do you dudes want to join young reps?” For as long as most people at Benjamin Franklin can remember, students did not take the Young Republicans seriously as a club, and neither did many of the members. It was an open secret that the Young Republicans cared more for being contrarians than actual republicans. Admittedly, I was one of those phonies.…

Politics affect every single thing in our lives, because politics are the basis of how our government responds to the problems we face everyday. Each identity is the culmination of our views on each issue, efficacy, and party affiliations all of which are formed gradually as we are exposed to different influences in our lives.…
