Political Spectrum Examples

The political spectrum is a system used to help classify different political positions upon one or more geometric axes that symbolize independent political dimensions. Like most people I have to decide on which spot in the political spectrum I fall in. I would say that I fall in the liberal/moderate part in the political spectrum because in some situations I am willing to change and open to other people’s opinion to abandon traditional values, but in other situations I would prefer to be in the middle with liberals and conservatives. To test myself on which position I fall into I’ll give my political opinion on three controversial issues, which are Dying with dignity, the death penalty, and immigration.
Dying with dignity is an organization that encourages their supporters to campaign for a change to the current laws so that a terminally ill, mentally competent adult who feels to end their suffering opt for an assisted death. Crimes that can result in the death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences, such as treason or first degree murder. To abolish the death penalty is the ultimate goal for liberals when it comes to the heated topic of the death penalty. Not only that, liberals believe that the death penalty is inhumane and is “cruel and unusual” punishment. in addition they think imprisonment is an appropriate punishment for murder. However conservatives believe the death penalty is a punishment that is fit for committing murder ; it is neither “cruel nor unusual”. Executing a murderer is an appropriate punishment for taking an innocent life. Why do murderers get the chance to live while the people that they killed didn’t?
