One of our most popular events is rolling around an enormous beach ball or what we call a free speech ball and allowing everyone to write whatever they want. We do this to not only spread the message of free speech but to show students that regardless of what our political views may be we can all have a respectful discussion concerning the most prominent issues that Congress will face. Along with planning events for the club I’m also in charge of coordinating for the Spring Summit and have managed to sign up nearly all of my members. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions to Ron Paul who will also be attending. Having the opportunity to question a former representative about his feelings on the political system and what can be done to improve it is beneficial and provides an inside look that is rarely shown. At the same time we will be discussing the topic of immigration in the US, which is definitely one of the most prevalent topics in our nation since President Trump’s executive order and since Congress will also play an influential role in shaping our immigration system. Along with being in political advocacy groups I sit on the Honors College Steering Committee as a Student Representative. The committee consists of administrators, faculty and staff along with one other student where we discuss in what direction we want the Honors College to go and address any problems that student may have. Attending these meetings shows me a side of the Honors College that is rarely shown to other students, it not only helps me better understand the Honors College but also in my
