Positive change can come in politics, but the first step in the process of change, I believe is electing proper representatives, and becoming more educated overall as a society. An article I read called “One Soul at a Time” by Sam Huntington said, “Political scientists want to do good. They want to expand knowledge about political life, but also they wish to use knowledge for political reform. Usually this means desiring to promote ‘democratization’” (Huntington, 3). Wealth, education, desire for private gain, social culture, inequality, and acts of cooperation are all things that I consider factors that have lead to political corruption, but they are also factors that I believe have the capabilities to reform our political system. The expansion of knowledge is the first step in reform, and motion to begin doing more “good” within our political system.
