Global warming is a real problem the population faces today. The debate between if climate change is a real problem or not could easily be put to an end if the general public had access to scholarly databases. The most commonly used excuse as to why global warming does not exist is the harsh winters certain areas of the United States receive. What many people do not know is that local weather and overall climate do not coincide with each other. In addition, environmental changes and actions needed to help slow the process down has become a political issue as well. Surprisingly, some of the general population believes that global warming does not exist, that it is a scheme created for politics. However, there is a partial truth to this because researchers have discovered that political party association does affect an individual’s views towards global warming (Kellstedt, Zahran, & Vedlitz). America could use this fact to its advantage if both political parties did something to help fight against global warming. In addition, with the all of the harsh winters the east coast has faced over the last few years, critics try to use the harsh weather as an argument against climate change (Payne). Also, hot weather at unusual times of the season might be caused by global warming, but the absence of extreme weather conditions may give the populace the impression that nothing is wrong with the planet (Reynolds, Bostrom, Read, & Morgan).
