Political Divide In America Essay

In economic, cultural and social terms, American society has clearly grown less centralized in the past half century. The result of this is that our nation as a whole has become more diverse and fractured. I had a couple of experiences that really showed how politically fractured this country is and how deep the distaste is between the two parties. While on a family trip to Antigua I saw my family split up in two groups that refused to speak to each other because of a comment my uncle made about Donald Trump. This experience really opened my eyes to how much hatred the left and right wings have for eachother. My last important experience that involved political divide came when my next store neighbors house was vandalized with spray paint because they had a trump sign on there lawn. With that experience and seeing videos of people beating up trump supporters showed me that this distaste for the opposite party has hit an all time high after the election and once violence is involved I really started worrying about the future of this country. I believe that if Levin wrote the book after the election he would have much stronger views and I think he would have real worry about the future of this country and where it is headed. Levin believed that we have entered into a “age of anxiety” in which the views of our country are no longer what they are. I believe that Donald Trump really caused this political stir with his views and just the fact that many people believe that he is unfit to serve as president of the United States of America. I also believe that since Donald Trump has been elected, democrats have not looked at their country the same
