The current political climate is extremely divided. Republicans and Democrats have incredibly contrasted views on many controversial topics, for example, gun laws, which stresses the nation out when thinking about the future of America. In addition, both parties are taking stronger stances on what they believe are important issues. A common issue that candidates focus on is improving the United States economy. According to USA Today, people say that “In addition to the economy, work and money stress, which annually are in the top three stressors.” This makes it hard to compromise between parties because people are unsure which party will make the most change.

According to a Gallup poll conducted in January 2017, 54 percent of voters claimed to be dissatisfied with the nation’s laws or policies on guns. 37 percent of those who were dissatisfied went on to state that they desired stricter gun laws. (Gallup 2017) Due to gun violence within the nation that causes Americans to become uneasy, Clinton will have to restore the hope of Americans by taking on the gun lobby. Clinton’s plan to remove the industry’s legal protection for illegal and irresponsible actions, and revoke licenses from dealers who break the law. Currently, the legal protection for illegal and irresponsible actions protects people because it is impossible for people to hold them accountable. This message resonates with the clear majority who are stressed about gun violence and desire
