Political Correctness In The United States

Decent Essays
Cohesiveness is what our country needs more than ever. Political correctness should not come first when it comes to finding the solutions necessary to make our country great once again. We need people like Ben Carson, and Donald Trump to say things that will make us see the reality of what is taking place in our country. By being politically correct, we are sacrificing the well-being of our Nation. Common sense is needed more than ever. Moreover, being politically correct kills our common sense. Ben Carson truly believes in the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States and how political correctness is adversely affecting our nation. The American people must speak out, be brave about saying things that may sound offensive

Everybody of a country looks up to their political leaders. Thus, would you not want the leaders to embrace all types of people, instead of belittling certain ethnicities? In such cases leaders that are bigots toward a certain race should be removed from their political position. Especially, if the leader is treating a certain race completely different from the other races. Political leaders are supposed to be our example of how to be a good citizen, however if one of our leaders is a bigot towards certain races the consequences are terrible.…

Incivility is not a new topic in American politics, in fact, it has continued to get worse over the years. In “The Negative Consequences of Uncivil Political Discourse” Sandy Maisel states that the “lack of civility has led to the decline in citizen approval of trust in our institutions of government” (Maisel 405). Maisel discusses the impact of incivility and how it can sway the public opinion to doubt the way politics are being handled. He discussing about how uncivil outbursts are not what cause concern, it is the lack of action, since politicians use this as a strategy to obtain more supporters and votes (Maisel 405). Maisel believes those who pursue the common good do so in a civil manner because civility is necessary to have an effective…

For years now, people have tried to be more “politically correct” in everything they say or do. “Political correctness,” I have observed does not only pose problems for those in the majority but for the minorities as well. While on the surface this seems to be just a way of being considerate and kind to fellow human beings, I believe it is actually hurting society as a whole. When majority members cannot speak candidly, members of under-represented groups also suffer. What it results in is that no one, even the minorities it tries to protect, can discuss their concerns about fairness and fears without falling into the negative stereotypes.…

Why is racism so deeply rooted among American history? Why is something as simple as skin color such subject to prejudice and discrimination in today’s society? The United States of America is built off of cruel acts of slavery and racism. So many white Americans did not realize that the acts they performed were horribly wrong and inhumane. They excused themselves simply because darker skin meant that that person was also inferior.…

Censorship has long been a part of American culture, shaping the overall morals of the people. This is a point made in the excerpt from The Atlantic Monthly as the writer states that some will disagree with something being allowed to be shown in front of children while others believe it should be allowed. This issue is still present to this day and many people maintain very ambiguous opinions on the topic. These ambiguous opinions are capitalized on in the article as being between moralists and artists; those who believe these artworks being shown is evil and then those who only see the beauty in the works. The writer sums this up well, claiming that “Moralists will justify it for one set of reasons; artists will acede to it for another.”.…

Not long after Donald Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election a fellow think tanker type was so dumbfounded that he stated to me; "Lance what everyone is trying to process is how a political campaign based on lies and hate speech could succeed in the most advanced economy in history. " Of course, such a statement in and of itself shows just how out-of-touch this gentleman really is. You see, the lies and hate speech actually came from the other side constantly calling the right "racists" and all sorts of other derogatory things and lying to the public while their personal emails showed how they really felt and what the left was really up to.…

Ever since people have communicated, people have wanted to encourage some ideas, while suppressing others. This idea eventually became known as censorship, and was applied by groups of even minimal power all over the world. The merit of censorship has been argued from many different sides, for many different reasons. Much of what censorship is, in our modern world, is a strong group of people depriving others of knowledge, to further the first group 's goals. Although some censorship may be beneficial when it comes to taking maturity into consideration, it is a dangerous thing to contemplate.…
