Political Correctness And Racism Analysis

Imagine this: a world where by saying the wrong thing you would be ridiculed, receive jail time, or be labeled as racist. What kind of world would it be if one word taken wrong or offensively could cost you your reputation, job, and close friends. I hate to break it to everyone, but this is the world we are living in right now. Many people have become apprehensive about saying the right thing. This is a direct result from political correctness. The definition of political correctness is, the avoidance, often considered as taken to extremes, of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against. The university's president James Ramsey, and his staff, dressed as Mexicans, with sombreros, ponchos, and mustaches on October 28, 2015. This was supposed to be a harmless and fun group costume; however, this was not the university's response. The university was outraged at this. This was nothing more than a harmless fun costume idea that was not intended to be racist at all until the media blew it up like an atomic bomb. How has wearing a costume become offensive? This is like saying wearing a grim reaper costume with a cloak is offensive to Muslim women wearing a burqa. How has something so little and harmless sparked so much outrage in America
