Spain used to be a catholic monarchy, ruled by kings and queens, and was one of the World’s most powerful countries, as it conquered a lot of territories, such as Latin America and Philippines. Spain was basically an agricultural country. In Spain, since the 19th century the owners of large lands held the power. There was an oligarchy based in land. The economy was unable to meet people’s economic needs. The Army was conservative and interfered in politics.

Hitler and Mussolini pressured Francisco Franco to gain Madrid. He used 30,000 Italians and 20,000 soldiers; they took Guadalajara and then moved to Madrid. The capture of Madrid marked the end of the war. On April 1st 1939, Franco declared the end of the war. Franco was a dictator until 1975, when he died.

The consequence of the world was 145,000 deaths, half of them were Republicans. Also civils lost their lives.
After the war, Spain was isolated by most of the countries in the United Nations. This affected not only the people responsible for the war, but also all the population, that was impacted by the isolation. As he did not have the United Nations’ support, Franco asked the Latin America countries for help.
The Spanish civil war helped Germany and Italy to test their military forces and equipment, making them feel more powerful. Additionally, Germany and Italy did not respect the non- intervention policy. All these factors contributed to collapse of peace and originate the Second World
