In this research paper we will discuss the policy strategy of government services to women who have been affected by domestic violence. Hamdanah gathered data from public officials who provided services to domestic violence cases, women who experienced domestic violence but was not reported to the Integrated Service Center (PPT), and women who experienced domestic violence and reported it. The author found that women wanted the best services from the public service agencies which according to Maslows Theory on human need are food, water, and shelter (Hamdanah, 2015 pg. 48). What could the researchers have done different?
There was a lack of quantitative research and statistics within the article even though the author stated that the research and observations conducted were primarily in a qualitative format. Additional quantitative research and data presented at the beginning of the article could have provided a more solid framework to springboard the author’s point giving the reader a fuller context. This would have provided more merit and context to the existing qualitative research. Also throughout the article the author unnecessarily repeated ideas and concepts. xi. Contributions to the field of public policy.
Hamdanah made a good point of how both a top-down and bottom up approach can be used to solve the problem of domestic violence. This appears to be a well-balanced solution for implementing changes in official government response and cultural expectations in a region of the world where government operation and policy implementation is carried out differently than the United
