Introduction
Police officers are oftentimes placed in unique and unpredictable situations that most people will never experience. One minute a police officer could be sitting down having lunch and the next minute they are running after an armed subject. Police officers are also required to work long hours and rotating shifts. Along with this, police officers witness the negative aspects of life on a daily basis. They have to respond to calls involving neglected and abused children, abused spouses and violent crime scenes. The endured by police officers will also be explained as well as how these issues carry over into the police officers’ marital relationships and negatively impact these relationships as well. It is also important to investigate the types of marital relationship stressors faced by police officers and how these stressors add even more stress to the police officer, causing an even greater negative impact on police officers’ physical and mental
