Police officers should wear body cameras because police brutality would be less likely to happen because they would be being watched on their job and citizens wouldn’t be able to lie their way out of things. Police might not like the idea of wearing a body camera because they may feel like they're being watched or their not responsible enough to do their job, and a citizen might not like it because if they do end up doing something wrong they won't be able to defend themselves in the situation they're in. Police officers may not like the idea of not being able to invade someone’s privacy because it’s sometimes how they catch the criminal. When a police officer invades a citizen’s privacy they are violating their 4th amendment right. What I mean by invading privacy is a cop pulling you over for no apparent reason to check your car or to come into your home without a warrant, which does happen sometimes. On the other hand police are also citizens, which means their privacy shouldn’t be broken either, but some people don’t think about it that way. A body camera could fix this, since the cameras always pointing whats in front of the police officer it will show everything that is happening. A new york cop entered a women’s home by bullying his way passed, they had told the women that they were going to search her house for a felon even though her and her 15 year old daughter told them that they didn’t know who the felon was.(miller).
