Lately reports of people being shot or beaten to death by the police for the past two to three years flooded the local and national news. The stories of Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Laquan McDonald has shocked many people, including myself. Police officers should be trained professionals who are supposed to serve and protect the public. As a citizen, I want to know that the police are protecting all citizens but it is hard watching the news and seeing how police officers are killing unarmed men and women, when it is unnecessary.
After the shooting and death of Trayvon Martin it seemed as if the news became flooded with police shootings or beatings. From the death of Eric Garner who was choked by police when he was selling illegal cigarettes
