According to statics, “A total of 1,466 law enforcement officers have died in the line of duty in the past ten years” (Law Enforcement Facts: Key Data about the Profession 1). Which translates to one death per sixty hours. Research shows that, “There are 1,092 federal officers listed on the Memorial, as well as 633 correctional officers and 34 military law enforcement officers”(Law Enforcement Facts: Key Data about the Profession 1). Imagine how much larger that number would be if these courageous men and women did not have the equipment to protect themselves and others in the dangerous situations that they face.
