Not only have society as a whole has changed over the past couple years, the operations of the police force has to. In my paper, we will examine how the changes have affected the current police operations.

The police department has changed tremendously when it comes to recruiting for police departments. Being credited for assigning the first female officers to patrol in a capacity equal to that of their fellow male coworkers in 1968. In 1970s, the Equal Opportunity Employment Act was passed, women then began entering the field at a high number. This has changed the police operations since more women and minorities are being recruited and promoted, this action has allowed for a better field of diversity among the citizens that they are protecting. Another change affecting police operations is advancement in technology. “Technology has played an expanding role in the everyday operations of the frontline police officer.” (Hess, Orthmann, & Cho). Encountering individuals may compromise an officer mindset. For example, officers who deals with individuals with mental disabilities has a CIT team who help officers identify mentally ill individuals. However, police officers should have better training when it comes to dealing with these types of people; since many of them due in up dead because of their unpredictable behavior from their mental illness. Secondly, pro-life and pro-choice conflicts is a problem for law enforcement. These types of situations start off peaceful, but turn violent quickly due to the different beliefs of all participants involved. This not only put the lives of the protestors in danger, but the officers, as
