Summary/Response Essay: Peace Officer As a result of technology advancing rapidly, police officers have access to more weapons than ever before. This has caused more police shootings and standoffs. Some police standoffs end without any harm but, most meet the expected fate of the civilian or civilians being killed or seriously injured and the police officers involved being killed or seriously injured. But, sometimes police officer related shootings are needed. Police officers should become more militarized to protect other civilians and police officers and because military equipment has been proven effective in police and civilian situations.
Summary
In recent years, police violence has grown tremendously. People are becoming more afraid of police and as a result, police have become more afraid of what the people can be capable of. Police violence has become more prominent not discriminatory …show more content…

Brian was shot in the neck after police thought he was about to attack them, but he was said to be trying to surrender. Brian’s case was one of many that Lawrence would investigate including the police invasion of Matthew Stewart. Police invaded Matthew Stewart’s home after he was suspected to be selling marijuana out of his basement illegally. Stewart was injured and one police officer was killed by Stewart. When the police invaded, Matthew started shooting rapidly in his kitchen causing the police to begin shooting. Matthew Stewart later killed himself in prison awaiting trial for the murder of police officer Francom killed in his home.
